What does it mean to be “all in” the gospel of Jesus Christ in the latter days?

With the political rhetoric circulating in our nation, many families are stymied in trying to determine how to talk to each other when political ideologies differ. We’re all aware of the need to avoid contention when we disagree, but that can be a tall order when discussing politics.

For the first time in 15 months, a small group of new missionaries arrived at the missionary training center (MTC) in Provo, Utah, on Wednesday afternoon to start in-person training.

Wendy Ulrich wasn’t sure what she wanted to do with her life until she read a single question in a book one day: What would you do if you were guaranteed success? And in that moment, she knew she wanted to be a psychologist. “I care enough about this that I’m afraid to fail at it,” she remembers thinking. “I’m afraid I’ll be bad at it . . . I don’t care as much about this other field that I’m considering, so it doesn’t feel as risky somehow to my whole identity as a human being.” She wasn’t guaranteed success, but she knew psychology is what she would pursue if she wasn’t afraid to fail. So despite the fear and the uncertainty, she went for it.

When the angel Moroni first visited Joseph Smith in 1823, he said that Joseph’s name would be known for good and evil throughout the world. Moroni’s statement has never been more true than in the present. Around the globe, millions of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints testify that Joseph was a prophet of God who restored Christ’s Church. As we write this in April 2020, the Church just completed a general conference that celebrated the Restoration. During this conference, the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles released a “Bicentennial Proclamation to the World” that shared their solemn witness of Joseph’s role in the “restoration of the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ.”

The curse of sleep deprivation—anything less than seven or eight hours of shut-eye at night leaves most adults struggling to function at best and cranky at worst. Maybe some people have even dreamed of what could be accomplished if the body didn’t require so much rest.
