Whether you’re looking to impress your significant other with something new this year or you just want to plan a fun night in with some friends, take inspiration from these fun Valentine’s Day traditions around the world.

Ages ago, men in Wales used to present wooden spoons to women they were interested in marrying. The spoons would be intricately carved with a symbol that represented them, and the tradition of giving “love spoons” continues today. A wooden spoon would make a fun and unique gift for a close friend or loved one on Valentine’s Day. If you’re into DIY projects, you could paint or wood-burn a meaningful design onto the spoon.
