For President Russell M. Nelson's birthday celebration, the apostles and President Nelson's family created loving tributes to this father, husband, prophet, and witness of the Savior.

“He has more love for people, I think, than almost anybody I’ve ever been around in my life,” said President Henry B. Eyring. “He not only loves us, he sees the best in us. . . . He sees good in people to a degree that’s really quite remarkable.”

Elder Gerrit W. Gong noted how this remarkable capacity to love has helped President Nelson minister to the one even as he travels the world ministering to the 99. Elder Gong specifically recalled President Nelson's words of comfort to a father who had just lost his wife.

While his role as a prophet has led to President Nelson meeting church leaders and dignitaries around the world, one of his most sacred roles in this life is that of a father, husband, and grandfather.

“The word ‘father,’ to my dad . . . is his highest calling. He oftentimes has said, ‘There are 12 apostles, but you only have one daddy,’ and he takes that responsibility very seriously. He has never made us feel like he was too busy to be our father,” said President Nelson’s daughter, Rosalie Ringwood.
