Everyone should know how to make a good smoothie, not just for the nutrition, but so that we all learn to make time for every meal instead of just skipping.

Recipe by Carrian Cheney from Raised in the Kitchen.

Chocolate Smoothie Bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 ¼ cups low-fat chocolate milk
  • 1 cup chopped frozen bananas
  • ¼ cup vanilla Greek yogurt
  • ½ to 1 cup fresh baby spinach
  • ¼ cup peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds

Toppings

  • Sliced bananas
  • Berries
  • Granola
  • Shredded coconut
  • Melted peanut butter

Directions

1. Add milk, frozen bananas, yogurt, spinach, peanut butter, and chia seeds to the jar of a blender. Process until smooth, about one minute.

2. Pour into bowls and top with additional fruit, granola, and coconut shreds. Drizzle melted peanut butter over top and serve.

Pro Tip: Try using regular milk or a different dairy alternative, as well as different types of frozen fruit, to create your own smoothie shop at home.

Raised in the Kitchen

From the time her children were toddlers, family cooking blogger Carrian Cheney found creative ways to get her children interested in cooking, partly to teach them basic kitchen skills so they could be part of the solution when they were hungry and partly to instill in them a joy of creating and presenting delicious meals, as her own mother had taught her.

From food prep to clean-up, this unique cookbook guides the way through every step, including meal lists and easy-to-follow recipes, and features dollops of heartwarming family stories, insights, and kid-friendly food activities to keep young chefs focused on fun in the kitchen.

Raised in the Kitchen is a cookbook for parents and kids about much more than learning to love to cook. It's about bringing families together with cooking memories that will last a lifetime.
