In 2013, the Church began publishing “straightforward, in-depth essays on a number of topics.” These essays, which were first called “Gospel Topics” and have since been renamed “Topics and Questions,” are updated regularly. The newest update includes more answers to questions about the temple.

Church Newsroom reports that the essay now includes sections on topics such as:

  • “Why worship in temples seems more ceremonial than other Church experiences”
  • “How the endowment ceremony compares to Masonic rituals”
  • “Why temple procedures and ceremonies change over time”
  • “Why Latter-day Saints wear garments”

You can read the essay with answers to those questions here: Temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
