Donny Osmond was wrapping up the last song during the final show of the 11-year Las Vegas residency he shared with his sister, Marie, when suddenly he couldn’t feel his arms and his legs. He didn’t know what was happening to his body, but “kept dancing and finished the show,” he told mirror.co.uk.
Over the next 12 months, Osmond began an effort to regain his health. Doctors told him that his spine had shifted, in part due to previous dancing injuries, including one suffered during his run on Dancing With The Stars in 2009, and that he would need surgery. The singer had successful surgeries on his back and neck, but while recovering at his home in Utah, Osmond contracted a secondary infection.
Looking back now and having recovered enough to show off his dancing skills once again in a recent music video filmed just 14 months after his health crisis began, Osmond says he credits his faith with being central to his recovery.
“It was my faith, a lot of hard work, and positive thinking,” he said.
