Tonight, during the Priesthood session of general conference, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles gave an important address on the subject of home teaching.

While Elder Holland began with a few lighthearted jokes about the cliche nature of asking the brethren to do their home teaching, he clarified some very important questions.

Perhaps the most important question he clarified is this: What actually counts as home teaching?

What actually counts as home teaching?

His answer is simple: "Everything counts. So report it all."

He then went on to promote a new way of thinking about home teaching—a higher way.

"Lift your vision of home teaching. Please, in newer, better ways see yourselves as emissaries of the Lord to His children."

He gave further detail on the true and most important part of being a faithful home teacher:

"What matters most is that you love your people and are fulfilling the commandment to 'watch over the Church always.'"
