Latter-day Saint Life

For the first time in 48 years, the Washington D.C. Temple will be open to the public

Latter-day Saints living in and around the US capitol city have waited nearly four years and are now just months away from the Washington D.C. Temple’s public open house and rededication later this year.

This will be the first time since 1974 that the Washington D.C. Temple will be open to the public.

In an interview with Fox 5 DC, the Church’s open house cochairs Kent and Kathryn Colton commented on this exciting upcoming event.

“We’re so thrilled to welcome everyone into the temple, to come and see and to feel the spirit of the temple,” Sister Colton shared. “On each floor you’ll be able to see a different purpose for the temple, and we invite you all to come and learn … the purpose for our sacred building.”

The public open house begins on April 28, 2022, and runs until June 4, 2022. Visitors are encouraged to make a reservation for either parking or a metro shuttle ticket at www.dctemple.org.
