Al Fox (now Al Fox Carraway) wasn’t looking for religion. In fact, when the missionaries tracted in to her while she was living in New York, she told them she would let them teach her only if they brought her a steak dinner, sure they wouldn’t follow through and she wouldn’t have to see them again.

My relationship with my now-husband began the way many relationships do: with a DTR (define-the-relationship conversation). It happened on a Friday night. But less than 24 hours later, on our first official date as boyfriend and girlfriend, I found the need to initiate another DTR.

Many of us often sit in the same area each week when we attend church, sometimes just out of habit and ease, and some people like to even sit in the exact same row each week.

Motherhood. We cherish and celebrate it, and sometimes we complain about it. Sometimes we yell at our kids, and sometimes they teach us the most profound lessons we could learn in life. The kids scribble on the walls, and they kiss us on the cheek when we’re feeling down.

In Doctrine and Covenants 115:4-6, the Lord calls to action all the people of His Church, inviting them to “arise and shine forth” so that their “light may be a standard for the nations.” He asks them to join together to support one another and become a “refuge from the storm.”

This update to the scriptures is a big deal--the last major revisions to the scriptures were made in 1981, when footnotes and cross references were added--but it wasn't a change that happened all at once.

Now before we start nit-picking, let me clarify: not all these dresses are 100% modest by LDS standards. But most of them are pretty dang close, and compared to all the other outfits celebrities are wearing these days, we applaud these women for their style choices. And with only slight modifications needed for a few of these outfits (most notably in the lining), these can still provide inspiration for all of us in our quest for modesty.

I own several Disney soundtracks. And sometimes, it’s just as much fun to rock out to “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” as it is to whatever’s on the top of today’s pop charts. With their fun music that brings movies to life and makes you want to sing and dance along, Disney songs seem to have a nearly universal appeal. And because Mormons seem to watch Disney movies more prolifically than perhaps your average American because of their much cleaner content when contrasted with the increasingly sketchy world of Hollywood, we seem to also have a much greater love for the music than your average person.

I’m a traditional sort of person. When I hear a song and fall in love with it, I don’t like to hear people mess it up with variations. A classic is a classic, and that’s the way it is. What’s that saying about “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”? Yeah.

I always said there was probably a reason people who graduated from BYU or BYU-Idaho single were, well, single. There was obviously some major character defect that, whether immediately apparent or carefuly buried under onion layers that need only be peeled away to make your eyes water, prevented them from being dateable and marryable.

Michelle Snow has a different take on food storage. Rather than storing food in bulk quantities that are difficult to take with you in an emergency, she stores all the ingredients for each meal in an individual sack, including the water necessary to cook it. This way, she knows she has everything she needs and never runs into surprises.
