Marie Osmond Says Her Greatest Award is Being a Mom, Shares Grandson's Baby Blessing

On Sunday, January 24, Marie Osmond's grandson, Christian, received his baby blessing. Marie seized the opportunity to share sweet insights into her love for her family and bear testimony of that which matters most in her life--faith and motherhood.

The event gave Marie a chance to reminisce about when her husband blessed her first child and Christian's father back in 1983. "Life comes full circle too fast, doesn't it?" she asked in a Facebook post telling about the event. She told funny family anecdotes about pesky grandchildren turning house walls into coloring books, but then the post took a more serious tone as she bore her testimony about family.

A mother of eight, Marie claimed that of all the awards and accolades she's earned in her life--which are quite a few--nothing comes close to being a mother and now a grandmother of three. She continues:

"In fact, one of my favorite quotes is, 'Nothing can take the place of home in rearing and teaching children, and no other success can compensate for failure in the home.' . . .

"David O. McKay also believed that a Mother's image is the first that stamps itself (onto) the unwritten page of a young child's mind. 'It is her caress that first awakens a sense of security; her kiss, the first realization of affection; her sympathy and tenderness, the first assurance that there is love in the world.'

"On the other hand, I was always taught the most important thing that a #Father can do for his children is to love their Mother. The examples Fathers set in the home, sets the tone for the way their children will treat their spouses and others in the future.

"Let us cherish our little ones and give them our time and attention, no matter how tired we may be. Because when it comes to our lives turning full circle, as Little Stephen cleverly illustrated on the hallway wall... the greatest work we parents will ever do will be within the walls of our own homes."

My #grandson Christian was blessed in church today and I couldn't help but reminisce about the day my husband #blessed... Posted by Marie Osmond on Sunday, January 24, 2016
