Melissa Wei-Tsing Inouye

Melissa Wei-Tsing Inouye was raised in Southern California and received AB and PhD degrees from Harvard University. She is a Senior Lecturer in Asian Studies at the University of Auckland and a historian at the Church History Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is the author of China and the True Jesus: Charisma and Organization in a Chinese Christian Church (Oxford, 2019); Crossings: a bald Asian American Latter-day Saint woman scholar’s ventures through life, death, motherhood, and cancer (not necessarily in that order) (Deseret Book, 2019); and Sacred Struggle: Seeking Christ on the Path of Most Resistance (Deseret Book, 2023). She enjoys hiking and digging in the dirt with her husband, four children, and Labrador-cattle dog cross, Bertie.
