Provo Utah Temple closure date, Orem Utah Temple dedication date, Wichita Kansas Temple site announced

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released the dedication and open house dates for the Orem Utah Temple. The date of the Provo Utah Temple closure and the location of the Wichita Kansas Temple have also been announced.

Orem Utah Temple Dedication

The Orem Utah Temple will be dedicated on Sunday, January 21, 2024, in two sessions (12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. MST). A public open house will begin on Friday, October 27, and continue through Saturday, December 16, 2023, excluding Sundays and Thanksgiving Day. A media day will be held on Monday, October 23, 2023, after which invited guests will tour the temple from Tuesday, October 24, through Thursday, October 26.


Provo Utah Temple Closure

As announced in October 2021, the Provo Utah Temple will be closed to accommodate reconstruction of the temple at the end of the day Saturday, February 24, 2024. During the closure, members from the temple district are encouraged to attend other temples as their circumstances permit. Those desiring to receive their own ordinances should contact a temple in the surrounding area to make the necessary arrangements.


Wichita Kansas Temple Location

The Wichita Kansas Temple will be built on a 6.42-acre site located at Lot 1 Block 1 of The Moorings Plaza Fourth Addition, Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas. …

Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 9,950 square feet. This will be the first temple in the state. Currently, Latter-day Saints in Kansas travel to the neighboring states of Oklahoma or Missouri to worship in temples, with the Kansas City Missouri Temple, which borders eastern Kansas, being the closest.
