The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints dedicated its first temple in Honduras, the sixth in Central America and the 141st of the Church on Sunday, 17 March 2013. President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, second counselor in the Church’s First Presidency, dedicated the Tegucigalpa Honduras Temple in three sessions that were broadcast to meetinghouses throughout the temple district, which includes Nicaragua.

Plans for Connecticut’s first temple of the Church of Latter-day Saints in Farmington are moving forward with site preparation expected to commence this summer. The site is just off Route 4 in Farmington, directly opposite the entrance to Devonwood and the Winding Trails Recreation Center. Last year, the town’s Planning and Zoning Commission approved the application and zone change for a 35,000-square-foot, white granite temple, topped by a tall steeple on 11 acres, at the corner of Melrose Drive and Farmington Avenue.
