In 2011, Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, Utah, created the Light of the World Garden—a garden featuring 15 life-sized scenes from the life of Jesus Christ by sculptor Angela Johnson. This Christmas season, the garden has taken on a new, stunning look with hundreds of lanterns illuminating the pathways and providing nighttime visitors with the perfect opportunity to reflect on the life of the Savior.
My life the past, oh, 15 years has felt a little like one (really long) chick flick. Or more specifically, the first 15 minutes of a chick flick. With all the questions regarding marriage and priesthood lately, we should not be surprised to see that the Church has given us insight on such things so many years prior to things coming to a head, as they seem to be doing in the USA now.
President Uchtdorf is well-known for his ability to warm the hearts of Latter-day Saints worldwide with his touching displays of humanity and compassion. At the most recent general conference of the Church, he was moved to tears by Elder Kearon's talk on refugees, having been a refugee himself in the war-torn Europe of the mid-20th century.
If you saw a rubber shark or the sword from the video game Infinity Blade on American Ninja Warrior last night, chances are you saw Scott Stoddard.
For those Mormons who go through it, the missionary experience is transformative and often defining. New missionaries leave Salt Lake full of optimistic zeal. Heavy scripture study and memorization give them confidence that they can explain and defend the gospel. Intensive, total-immersion language training makes them certain that they can communicate in their new language and eventually speak with the “voice of angels.”
"It's the power of faith that drives this entire population and it's the power of faith that has all that grain stored right up there to feed people who need help," said presidential candidate John Kasich.
