“Wondering for the safety of his life.” This is how the book of Moroni begins. It’s difficult to even imagine the loneliness and sorrow Moroni must have felt as he watched all of his family and friends perish. Though he didn't think he would live long enough to write them, Moroni's words in Moroni 1–6 are vital to us as members. So grab your scriptures and let’s dig into what Moroni has to teach us.
What could’ve been the darkest moment of his life turned into the moment that changed Garett Bolles’ life. It is a story that has been widely referred to as “Utah’s Blind Side” but Garett’s story was far from over when Greg and Emily Freeman took him in as a high school student. On this week’s episode, we talk to Garett about how God brought light into his life right when it seemed darkness was closing in and why he is now determined to bring that same light into the lives of others, including his son, Kingston, who was recently diagnosed with apraxia of speech.

What do you think of when you hear the word, “light”? Do you think of stars, a candle, a lightbulb, or something completely different? Maybe after this week, you’ll think of Doctrine and Covenants 93 because this section is all about light. In fact, doctrinally, this section is one of the most important sections in the Doctrine and Covenants because it has as much light and truth for us today as it did for the Saints back then. So make sure to grab a pencil or two and let’s dig into Doctrine and Covenants 93.
For both children and adults alike, Christmas is, and probably always will be, a much bigger and more attractive holiday than Easter. Further, the date of Easter makes it difficult to plan for and get excited about, while Christmas is fixed for western Christians on December 25. The date of Easter, dependent as it is upon a lunar calendar, moves around from year to year, often catching us by surprise. But in his Christmas message in 2000, President Gordon B. Hinckley made it clear that Easter really is the more important of the two holidays: “There would be no Christmas if there had not been Easter. The baby Jesus of Bethlehem would be but another baby without the redeeming Christ of Gethsemane and Calvary, and the triumphant fact of the Resurrection.”
An artist from a young age, Sarah Jane Wright doesn’t have many memories that don’t include having a pencil or a crayon in her hand, and that trend continues to this day. From her Nutcracker illustrations displayed in Ralph Lauren's New York City flagship store to her “Lola Dutch” picture book series series to her latest project with Emily Belle Freeman and David Butler, Sarah Jane is a believer that God made all of us creators. On this week’s episode, we talk about why creativity of all forms is often messy, and why it's worth cultivating in ourselves and in our children.
While sitting in a sacrament meeting a few months ago, Sister Kathy Christofferson had an experience many members of the Church can relate to. It was fast and testimony meeting, and while many stood to share remarkable miracles and observations at the pulpit, Sister Christofferson racked her brain for something extraordinary to share—but nothing came to mind.
