Recognizing How We Walk in Step with Jesus

Today we’re looking toward Jesus and His example, how He spoke and shared truth when He was on the earth, what we can do to model after Him, and how two women in scripture can help inspire us to be bold in our discipleship. As we take covenant steps to follow Him, we learn to recognize that He is always alongside us.

Inspired by Eve's Courageous Example, Choice, and Leadership

As daughters of Eve, we each carry an innate heritage of leadership, and courage. We also learn from today's guest that part of Eve's legacy is the important role of being a shepherd, like our Savior. When we follow Eve’s example, we are women who nurture trust in our homes, communities, and in our relationships with God. Having a deeper understanding and appreciation of Eve helps us better understand ourselves as daughters of God, each of us like Eve with a unique and vital role to play in His kingdom.

Drawing Power and Strength from the Scriptures

Creating a healthy relationship with scripture study moves it beyond the checklist to something we treasure and draw strength from. Being in the scriptures with the intent to receive personal revelation empowers us and emboldens our faith. When we seek guidance in scripture, we can receive inspiration to comfort and guide family members in the moment they need it, share our faith more boldly, and speak with confidence. And we fear the things of the world less because we learn even more deeply that God is in every story.

Genesis 5; Moses 6 (Jan 26-Feb 1)

Enoch was a prophet, he taught what was good. Music is important in developing and sharing testimonies. Today as we study the story of Enoch and his walk with God in Genesis 5 and Moses 6 we will do it through music. Hopefully these songs can bring you close to your Heavenly Father and bring to life the stories of the scriptures.

Genesis 1–2; Moses 2–3; Abraham 4–5 (Jan 12–18)

The first two chapters of Genesis, Abraham, and Moses contain different versions of the creation story. What can we learn from each and why would we need multiple perspectives? This week we are studying the weighty topic of the creation, a topic about which Russell M. Nelson once called members to “stretch our minds” to consider. And that’s exactly what we will do.

Intro to the Old Testament (Dec 29–Jan 4)

The Old Testament can be read as a study manual to prepare for the Atonement of Christ. Jesus is everywhere to be found in the Old Testament narrative especially when you read with a keen eye to the original Hebrew. To start our Come, Follow Me study this year we are looking at how translations can give us more insight to covenants and our relationship with Christ.

Genesis 3–4; Moses 4–5 (Jan 19–25)

In Hebrew, Eden means delightful, luxurious, or dainty. But that does not mean there wasn’t conflict and opposition in Adam and Eve’s first home. We are studying the Fall found in Genesis 3–4 and Moses 4–5 with specific attention to how an understanding of the Hebrew words can shed new light on an age old story.

Moses 1; Abraham 3 (Jan 5–11)

Moses 1 contains the greatest superlative we could be given. When Moses is struggling, the doctrine he learned that helped him overcome Satan was knowing that he is a child of God. When we say we are children of a loving Heavenly Father we mean that it is His greatest goal to be with us again. And that knowledge will carry through our whole study of the Old Testament narrative this year.

The Key to More Daily Happiness and Joy

Taking everyday moments to testify of Christ becomes normal and natural the more we speak of Him. As we listen to promptings then act on opportunities to joyfully share about Jesus Christ and His gospel, we become more articulate in sharing our faith. And the more we act on promptings to share about Jesus, the more inspiration we receive to help and lift others which increases our happiness. It’s a beautiful cycle, and we get to be part of it.

Jean Bingham: Finding Common Ground and Unity with Each Other

When the world tells us to be divisive and look at what makes us different from one another, former Relief Society General President, Sister Jean Bingham, has learned to lean in, strengthen relationships, and find common ground through the gospel of Jesus Christ. Her example shows us that when we rely on the Lord, He will help us express our beliefs effectively in any situation. Through our words and actions, we can be the ones to create avenues of mutual respect and understanding with everyone we meet. Sister Bingham is also the perfect person to teach us how to confidently articulate our faith so that everyone we meet knows how much they are loved by our Heavenly Father.
