After nearly a month of cold winter storms, having few warm clothes and little food, the Martin Handcart Company had a monumental day on November 10th, 1856, when rescue party member Ephraim Hanks arrived, bringing renewed faith and needed supplies.

Preparation: Create a poster of a path leading up to a gate by enlarging the sample below (or clicking here for a PDF), or drawing a simple version of your own. Create a game marker using a magnet or paper shape with tape on the back. Place the poster at the front of the room. Obtain and post pictures of Christ’s baptism, a child being baptized, and a child being confirmed.

For over 150 years the Salt Lake Tabernacle—and since 2000, the Conference Center—have been the Temple Square locations for live events for music lovers and visitors from around the world. In March 2020, the pandemic temporarily halted all events on Temple Square and around the world.

The LDS hymnal is full of uplifting music and poetry from a host of different sources, but they all share one commonality—they inspire and lift our minds toward heaven. Just as powerful as many of the words in these hymns are the stories behind them. Here are just a few.

How can we help flood the world with all the good we see? How can we keep a balanced perspective to focus on the good while not ignoring the bad?

If you were driving along in the dark and could see only the turnings into cross streets and the forks in the road, you would be subject to all kinds of directional mistakes. But if you had your GPS and could see it all from above, adjusting your perspective to a mile, to five miles, to 50 miles, to the whole distance from where you are to where you want to go, you could then make all the right turns along the way. The plan of salvation is the big picture, the big map that shows the destination, and the restored gospel is the clearly marked path. And the gospel GPS is so advanced that it allows for U-turns and course corrections so long as we don’t turn it off or tune it out. And like a buddy-tracking application, it also allows us to locate the position of our children and to coordinate the journeys so that we all end up at the same place.
