In May, we held a handover for our bee project in Bulawayo. This is the project where we are helping young people who are heads of family. These young people are between the ages of 14 and 17 and have complete responsibility for their younger siblings due to the death of both parents and do not have any relatives to help. Among other donations, the Church provided wood, wire, screens and paint and the kids constructed 20 beehives. They also constructed tables and benches for their classrooms and built platforms to hold the beehives. Along with the building of the hives and physical aspects of the project, they attend training classes on the care and nature of bee keeping as well as training in starting and managing a business. The leaders in the community were invited to the handover and several people from America were in attendance. The completed hives were all placed in rows for the handover and when we lifted the lids, they had baited the interior wood slats and screens with honey and sweets, so as to entice the bees to select their hives. The next step is to take the hives and place them in several fields to start the process of luring bees to their hives. They are hoping that the bees will like the look of their hives and select them for their homes and manufacturing plant. If a queen bee doesn’t select their hives within a few weeks, then there are places to purchase bees. Who knew?

From July 15 to 17, FamilySearch International hosted the world’s largest known indexing event, bringing 116,475 people from around the globe together to save nearly 10.5 million of the world’s records by making them accessible online for future generations. Volunteers ranged in age from 8 to 65 and pitched in from as far away as Asia, Africa, and the Pacific Islands.

The Century of Progress Exposition was a World’s Fair held in Chicago between 1933 and 1934. As part of the event, Ford Motor Company constructed its own exhibit that featured, among other things, a museum and concert hall. Subsequently, Ford would bring in musical acts, including the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Those who listen attentively to General Conference talks will often recognize words and phrases that sound familiar or that are clearly quoted from other sources, such as the scriptures, hymns, or the words of other modern Church leaders.

Not far from Somalia on a barren, windswept plain, a girl named Amina gathers firewood in the fading light of late afternoon. She is slightly built, with a long, delicate neck and thin, bony arms. The cheap Casio watch on her wrist tells her that she doesn't have much more time before she has to get home to help her mom. Amina lives in a sprawling refugee camp that sits at the base of a mountain in the Horn of Africa. From where she stands she can see the rows of white tents stretching to the horizon, a small, teeming city of some 40,000 souls.

Recently, the Washington Post praised Mitt Romney, saying: "In the end, no matter his reasoning, Romney didn't get the job. But, that's sort of besides the point. At a time when many talented and successful people in the private sector are resistant to putting themselves forward for public service, Romney continues to do so. He should be commended, not mocked, for that instinct."

On Dec. 14, 2012, Adam Peter Lanza changed Alissa Parker's life forever when he entered Sandy Hook Elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut, and fatally shot 26 people and then himself. Among those killed was Parker's 6-year-old daughter.

On Sunday, June 26, 2016, members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and those of the Long Beach mosque held an interfaith service, according to the Long Beach Post. This service was held just two weeks after the Orlando shooting where 49 were killed.
