It was no surprise when my husband and I attended our first family ward together as a young newlywed couple that we immediately landed in Primary. That seems to be the lot of many couples in our situation. Being the youngest in my family, however, it was quite the shock getting thrust into a room full of 5-year-old boys and having the responsibility of teaching them all about their eternal identity, their relationship to the Savior, and the plan of salvation. Even more surprising were the comments and unexpected complications that came with the calling. Don't get me wrong, it's been an exciting adventure. But it has been an adjustment.
Professional organizer Linda Isom has organized her own home and was a featured organizer on this week’s episode of A&E’s Hoarders, called "Eileen/Judy." American Idol is, simply put, one of the most iconic shows in television history. Since Kelly Clarkson won its first season in 2002, Idol has broken records and churned out stars at an absurd pace. This is the show that brought us not only Clarkson, but Clay Aiken, Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson, Katharine McPhee, David Cook, Jordin Sparks, Adam Lambert, Phillip Phillips, Kellie Pickler, Fantasia Barrino, and Kris Allen—just to name a few.
1. Buffer time. Always in a hurry to get out the door? Set the mood before church by allowing extra time to get ready. When you rush it is difficult to feel the Spirit. Play church music while you get ready or hum a hymn. You’ll probably still have to play the “hurry up!” game, but it will be much more pleasant.
In 2007, renowned LDS artist James Christensen created a painting titled Hold to the Rod, the Iron Rod. The painting features one of Christensen’s unique characters, in a predicament. The man has become so burdened with the belongings and items he has amassed that, while he longingly eyes the Iron Rod, he cannot reach up to hold it for fear of losing some of his possessions. Only 550 prints were originally created and sold out at the publisher for $295. Soon, however, the prints were being sold on the secondary market for as high as $4,000.
