Heather Pinegar and her family were camping in Arizona for a family reunion when their lives changed forever. They were preparing for their long drive back to Texas when Mick, Heather’s 15-year-old son and an avid dirt biker, asked if he could go on one last ride before they headed home. He loved going on rides after rainstorms, and after receiving consent from his parents, he went on his way.
I’ve always been a very committed kind of person. If I tell you I’ll do a project, it will be finished. If I accept a calling, I will fulfill it to the best of my ability. This is what I’ve grown up being taught—to be a committed disciple, daughter, friend, sister, and spouse. I realize, however, that in a generation and society where people are more comfortable with the latest hairstyles, the current trends, or the most bizarre new dance moves to satisfy their need for change, terms “commitment” and “eternity” can sound pretty intimidating—even boring. This is especially true when it comes to marriage and family relationships.

Exactly two years ago to the day, I went to the Provo Temple and got endowed. It wasn't because I was going on a mission, and it wasn't because I was getting married, (not saying those aren't awesome and just as important reasons, just as long as you're going for you and for the right reasons) I went because I wanted to go on my own, I went because it was individually really important to me. I went because I wanted to be closer to God and strengthen my relationship with Him. Two weeks later, I became an ordinance worker. Since then, and aside from the nights I worked there, I have been to the temple at least every week since this day two years ago. I honestly don't know what I'd do without it. But there are plenty of those who have not yet been and have questions about it. Here are my responses.
