Manual 1; Excerpt from "The Sabbath and the Sacrament" by L. Tom Perry
At Christmastime, homes and stores are flooded with festive music that gives me butterflies of excitement. I can't help it. There's nothing like Christmas to make one feel like a little kid again.
Intermountain Catholic: Mormons Honor Benedictine Sisters' Legacy Reaching out to those of other faiths and recognizing their important contributions to society is an important part of Mormonism. This happened in late April when, as Intermountain Catholic reports, Latter-day Saint leaders held a farewell luncheon for the Sisters of Saint Benedict in Ogden. Last year, the sisters decided to merge with their founding monastery in Minnesota. They had been in Ogden, Utah, since 1946.
And learning when it is perfectly appropriate to touch a stranger's neck.
One of the editors of "The First Fifty Years of Relief Society" shared the wonderful experience she has had reading over key Church documents and the histories of the remarkable women of the Church.
“The Book of Mormon was written for us today. God is the author of that book. It is a record of a fallen people, compiled by inspired men for our blessing today. These people never had the Book. It was meant for us. Mormon, the ancient prophet after whom the book is named, abridged centuries of records. God, who knows the end from the beginning, told him what to include in his abridgment that we would need for our day. Mormon turned the records over to his son Moroni, the last recorder; and Moroni, writing over 1500 years ago but speaking to us today, states: Behold, I speak unto you as if ye were present, and yet ye are not, but behold, Jesus Christ hath shown you unto me, and I know your doing (Mormon 8:35)” (President Ezra Taft Benson, Ensign, January 1988).

In my line of work, I get to read what a lot of people say about my church. Every day, news media reports mentioning The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or “Mormons” cross my desk, many from remote parts of the world. Since the advent of the Internet the number has increased exponentially, especially in the US.
I have sent seven sons and one daughter on missions. My last son just got his call to the Indiana Indianapolis Mission, Spanish speaking. The world is changing, isn’t it? All my missionaries but one have been to Spanish speaking missions. I wonder what mission call would be the hardest. Are there places that now have no missionaries that would present particular difficulties?
“I’ve always struggled with my testimony of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,” Tami wrote on her blog in August of 2016. “My testimony was always on high or off. There was no in between. I’m sure people wonder . . . if I had a very strong testimony at times in my life how in the world could I just let it waste away? I don’t have the answers to that question. I’m stubborn? Satan is a jerk? I’m forgetful? I left my room without thinking to pray? Yeah, probably all of those combined into a big mess.”
