Savannah Wooden was in high school when, after years of struggling with seizures, she made the difficult decision to have brain surgery that, if successful, would cure her seizures. The surgery was, by that measure, very successful, but in the years since, Savannah has struggled with the byproducts of the surgery. Even then, she can see that the power of the priesthood invited healing into her life that otherwise may not have been possible.

President Russell M. Nelson in the October 2011 General Conference said that “One of the most important concepts of revealed religion is that of a sacred covenant.” Today as we study Alma 23–29 we are going to dig into the doctrine of covenants and learn about a group of people who were willing to sacrifice everything in order to keep the covenant they had made.

In a chaotic world, peace can be a precious commodity. This episode begins our study of Doctrine and Covenants 30–36, seven chapters filled with peaceable things of the kingdom. Just as these verses advised 12 men who needed the assurance of peace, these sections can offer us encouragement and respite today.

It’s been a month since the last general conference. The messages are available to go back and read, and we’ve had an opportunity to let their words soak in. The last two weeks in Come, Follow Me also cover a conference of sorts when King Benjamin spoke to his people. Now, along with our study of Mosiah 7–10, we’ll relate this message on the power of prophets to the most recent words from our living prophets and general authorities today.

Robert is the seventh child out of eight and grew up in Dallas, Texas, and then the Bay Area in California. Though having pioneer heritage on all sides of his family, Robert felt detached from his roots until attending BYU and being surrounded by others of his faith. He really got to feel his roots when he was called to the Idaho Pocatello Mission (The Lord really knows what we need). With a new found love for eastern Idaho, Robert returned to Provo, Utah, and met his wife and worked toward becoming a dentist. Life happened, and bills for babies were due, and Robert took a role in sales thinking the dream to work in peoples' mouths would always be there. Twenty-five years, five children, two dogs, and lots of backyard chickens later, Robert is loving his life with all the twists and turns and working as the Chief Revenue Officer for Tech9 in Salt Lake City, Utah. When not in a Zoom meeting, Robert loves to ride his bikes (both road and mountain), eat breakfast cereal, and play keeper for the family co-ed indoor soccer team.
