We live in an age of polemics. Choices are presented as mutually exclusive and you're given little time to listen, to be reflective and careful in your judgment, or to acknowledge the validity of different points of view. Don't water your perspective down with nuance. Keep it simple, blunt, and direct, but whatever you do, don’t seem to be of two minds. You're supposed to pick your enemies, not consult with or even love them. You're asked to make a choice and a quick one at that, one that binds you to one camp that is defined by its opposition to another. Where do you stand?

The Tabernacle Choir organization is thrilled to announce the schedule for the return to Temple Square of daily organ recitals, weekly Choir and Bell ensemble rehearsals and Music & the Spoken Word broadcasts. For over 150 years the Salt Lake Tabernacle—and since 2000, the Conference Center—have been the Temple Square locations for live events for music lovers and visitors from around the world. In March 2020, the pandemic temporarily halted all events on Temple Square and around the world.
In June 2024, the History of the Saints team, Dennis Lyman and Glenn Rawson are taking a bus tour across the pioneer trail. The first group will travel by bus from Salt Lake, across Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, and finally into Nauvoo. Along the way, they will follow as closely as possible the actual pioneer trail. There will be stops at the Green River, Martin’s Cove, Devils Gate, Casper and the last crossing of the Platte. We will visit, Chimney Rock, Scots Bluff, Fort Laramie, the Guernsey Ruts, and so much more. At Nauvoo, we will spend time in the City and take in the wonderful sites, especially those recently acquired. There will even be time for a temple session. On our last night in Nauvoo, we will walk the Trail of Hope—down Parley Street to the Mississippi River. As the sun goes down, we look out to the west and imagine that trail of 1300 miles before them. The next day we drive into northern Missouri and shift our focus to 1838-39 and the Exodus of Missouri following the Extermination Order of Governor Lilburn W. Boggs. We will visit the Hawn’s Mill martyrdom site, Far West, and Adam-ondi-Ahman. The last hours of the tour are spent at Liberty Jail and Independence. From there the group will fly home and Dennis and Glenn will welcome a new group flying in. The next morning, we reverse the trail all the way back to Salt Lake City.

—Gospel Standard: I will live now to be worthy to go to the temple, serve a mission, and do my part to have an eternal family (Faith in God guidebooks, back cover).
LDS Perspectives recently interviewed David W. Grua, a historian and documentary editor with the Joseph Smith Papers, regarding the project’s most recent publication, Documents, volume 6. The volume covers February 1838–August 1839, a tumultuous period in the history of the Church that included the so-called Missouri-Mormon War, Governor Lilburn W. Boggs’s infamous “extermination order,” and Joseph’s experience in Liberty Jail.
The Holy Ghost will give us very specific guidance if we will hear and act upon it. One woman tells of a personal commandment, or prompting, that she felt compelled to obey:
With over 300 temples built or announced worldwide, the Alcantar family’s goal to visit every temple keeps growing.
