INTRODUCTION: I am going to do something a little different with this lesson and suggest a couple of ways to look at 2 Corinthians that are different from the outline given in the manual. I will not make a habit of this, because I think the manual is fantastic. If you are teaching Gospel Doctrine, that is where you need to go for your direction. But this book has been intriguing for me for some time because it offers special insights into service and happiness. But first some background.

At this season of the year it is wonderful to have a lesson on how to live as Christ did. Let’s start this lesson with a quote from President Benson. “I testify to you that there is no greater, more thrilling, and more soul-ennobling challenge than to try to learn of Christ and walk in His steps.” Note that he did not say there was nothing more enabling, but ennobling than trying to walk in His steps. Learning to walk, to live as Christ did, is what it means to live a Christ-centered life.

During September, which was National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, the Church launched new resources to help those struggling with suicidal thoughts and their families. In addition, the Ensign in September featured the story of a member who experienced suicidal thoughts,shared an article to help others understand suicide, and explained how families can create suicide-prevention safety plans. In addition, both the Friendand New Era wrote articles to help childrenand teens know how to deal with depression or help others who struggle with it.
This past year was one for the books for Mormons. From volunteering and organizing relief efforts to sharing their talents on Dancing with the Stars and The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Mormons have rocked 2017.
