My wife, Shauna, was talking with a friend one morning when the conversation turned to children. The woman spoke rather unkindly about a family she knew and of the problems some of the daughters had had. "What kind of parents would let their children do such things?" the woman asked very pointedly. My wife timidly suggested that we really ought not make those kinds of judgments. The woman replied, "No, what I mean is, there's no way my children would ever do those things." Shauna responded, "I hope you're right. But I wouldn't say that if I were you. Children can change overnight."

After Gerald N. Lund and his wife drove to Edinburg, England, to release President Stephen C. Kerr from his full-time service as a stake president, they had dinner with President Kerr and his wife, Yvonne. They discovered Yvonne was a convert to the Church and asked her to share her conversion story with them. This is her story:

Mary Magdalene is one of the best-known characters in the New Testament, yet we know surprisingly little about her. In all but one of the twelve times that she is mentioned in the four Gospels, she is either named alone or first in a list of women. The sole exception is in John’s account of the women who stood by the cross in which the mother of Jesus is listed first (John 19:25). Nevertheless, in the Gospel of John, Mary Magdalene is the premier witness of the Resurrection and the only one commissioned to tell others the stunning truth. The primacy of her name in these accounts, the frequency of her mention, and her role on the morning of the Resurrection suggest that she was a prominent and respected disciple in the first century. From the earliest interpretations of her, however, she has been assigned polar opposite roles: at one extreme, a repentant sinner who quietly served; at the other, the apostle to the apostles.

August 24, 2001: It was two weeks before we were scheduled to go to Yemen to film the Book of Mormon documentary "Journey of Faith" for the BYU Foundation of Ancient Research and Mormon Studies and 18 days before the fateful day of 9/11.

Although Larry H. Miller started as an obscure man with no recognition, by his death in 2009, his name had become one of the most recognized in Utah—and his wife, Gail, was with him until the very end. When her husband died, the widowed billionaire was faced with a choice: continue building what they had created together or sell the business and move on. She chose to continue with the business, and today she is a bright light of faith and service in the world of business. Yet, she had humble beginnings.
