Critics of the Church often claim that the Church needs to do more to empower its women. Well, here are a few ways that the Young Women values are doing just that by teaching girls from a young age how to be self-reliant, influential leaders--in every area of life.

Connie Xiaohua Zhang was born and raised in Beijing, China. She earned her BA in economics from Beijing University and MBA from Harvard Business School. She is the founder and CEO of Riley River Consultants, established in 2009. She helps North American green technology companies and medical device companies develop business in China. She is a renowned speaker and instructor who teaches about networking and marriage relationships across multiple key Chinese social media platforms. She is the author of Network Up (2019) and How to Raise Socially Intelligent Children (2020). She teaches online courses and gives talks to broad audiences in China about networking. She also holds a real estate license from the state of Texas, where she manages a broad portfolio of real estate. She enjoys international travel with her husband and two sons and oil painting in her leisure time.

Since territorial continuity is somewhat problematic in Jerusalem, the city does not have what one might call urban continuity. Instead, Israel’s capital consists of enclaves of isolated communities. One of those enclaves is the Mormon University, or, as it is officially known, Brigham Young University’s Jerusalem Center for Near Eastern Studies, which is located on a prime location on the southern slopes of Mount Scopus, adjacent to Augusta Victoria hospital. The Jerusalem Center is a quiet enclave that overlooks the city’s stunning landscape, which includes not only the Old City of Jerusalem, Mount of Olives and Kidron Valley, but also cemeteries and the black water tanks on the roofs of houses in theneighborhood of A-Tur.

For almost as long as there have been movies, there have been movies about Mormons. The LDS film genre — which is enough of a niche to have its own Wikipedia page — got its start in the early 1900s with two movies financed by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1940, 20th Century Fox jumped on board, distributing a biographical romantic drama centered on Brigham Young’s life, complete with well-known writers and actors.

The Polytechnic campus will soon become ASU’s second campus with a religious studies institute available to students. The Arizona Board of Regents approved an ASU proposal Feb. 17 to enter into a lease agreement with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and create the institute.
