11: “Strengthen the Church” (Doctrine and Covenants 23–26)

Imagine giving up your home, your family, and, at times, your safety. Then imagine losing children, seeing loved ones beaten and imprisoned, and enduring unrelenting persecution. This is just a glimpse into the life one of the Restoration’s greatest heroes. And as we study Doctrine and Covenants 23–26, we’ll come to understand how sacred revelation given to this individual can be related to us as we go through our own trials and triumphs.

CNN's radical approach to discussing Mormon faith

The CNN show Out Front with Erin Burnett did a radical thing on Wednesday. They had a discussion about Mitt Romney's Mormon faith and they actually invited a real live member of the Mormon Church to the segment to talk about it! What a revolutionary idea! No pundits, no outside observers, no disaffected Mormons, no academics who have studied the church from a distance for years, but someone who actually knows what they are talking about because they live and practice the faith.

2 Nephi 20-25: Delight

The September 2021 publication of the Friend magazine included the song “Peace in Christ” by Nik Day. The first verse reads: “There is peace in Christ / When we learn of Him. / Feel the love He felt for us / When He bore our sins. / Listen to His words. / Let them come alive. / If we know Him as He is, / There is peace in Christ.” Keep this song in mind while studying 2 Nephi 20–25 because the words of Isaiah about Christ can bring us peace in a world of division, captivity, sorrow, and destruction. And if there’s one thing we could all use a little bit more of now in the world, it’s peace.

Every section as we study this year will have eternal truths and we will make it our mission on this podcast to find them, starting with a lot of truth packed into this one powerful section. Though it's simple to link to a mormon.org profile on a Facebook page or write a post about faith on a blog, there are other easy ways for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to express their faith — digitally. Twitter users can find out a lot about a person by who they follow on their profile. LDS Twitter users can follow the Mormon Channel (@mormonchannel), Mormon Messages (@mormonmessages), Mormon newsroom (@mormonnewsroom), mormon.org (@MORMONorg) and so on, and anyone examining profiles can see their faith and learn more about it.
