Elder Holland speaks to law society on faith and religious freedom on faith and religious freedom

Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve addressed the J. Reuben Clark Law Society in Washington, D.C., on February 15 as part of the organization’s annual conference. The event marked the 25th anniversary of the JRCLS—a nondenominational group that encourages attorneys to parlay personal religious conviction into meaningful public service and professional excellence. “I had the good fortune to be part of the founding of the [Clark] law society during my presidential years at BYU and the creation of its first chapter here in Washington, D.C.,” Elder Holland said during his remarks. “This a particularly sweet moment for me, coming back to the maternity ward where this baby was born and noting what a dazzling 25-year-old that child has become.”

Huffington Post: Pawlenty video aimed at Mormon faith

Tim Pawlenty is talking about his evangelical faith. A new video shows Pawlenty and his wife discussing their belief in God, prayer, scripture study and Jesus Christ. At one point Pawlenty says, "When somebody is running for or holds high office, whether it's mayor, governor or president of the United States, voters want to know, and deserve to know, 'Who is this person?' You know, 'What shaped their values? What are their values? Is this a person that's good to their word? Can we count on them?'"

Romney relishes his LDS faith in media blitz

Mitt Romney affirmed the centrality of his Mormon beliefs during an interview Tuesday on CNN's Piers Morgan Tonight show. Morgan initiated a conversation with Romney about religion by showing his guest a recorded clip from the 2008 presidential campaign wherein Romney said, "I believe in my Mormon faith. … Some believe that such a confession of my faith will sink my candidacy. If they're right, so be it."

Young Women Leader Shares Message of Faith With Girl Scouts

Sister Bonnie L. Oscarson, Young Women general president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, discussed the impact of faith on the lives of girls with other youth religious leaders during a 90-minute panel discussion at the 2014 Girl Scouts Convention held Thursday, 16 October 2014, in Salt Lake City. The session was titled “Faith in Action: Understand the Impact of Faith on Girls’ Lives and on Their Communities.”

How the Colorado shooting allowed a glimpse into the Mormon faith

In his response to the mass shooting in Aurora, Colo., Mitt Romney offered a rare glimpse into his Mormon religion – one of those public moments for the man who would be the nation’s political leader but who so far has been very private about his personal faith. “Today we feel not only a sense of grief, but perhaps also of helplessness,” Mr. Romney said. “But there is something we can do. We can offer comfort to someone near us who is suffering or heavy-laden. And we can mourn with those who mourn in Colorado.”

Young Mormons share their faith far from home

A doe-eyed 19-year-old gets off of a flight from Utah having landed in Tallahassee. This young man has arrived in a strange city to begin his first day as a Mormon missionary. Having said goodbye to his family and friends, he has been sent to Tallahassee to share the message with strangers young and old of the Mormon faith. As apprehensive as this young man might feel about beginning this new chapter in his walk with the Mormon faith, his missionary work probably couldn’t come at a better time when people are more aware of the Mormon faith than ever before.

Children of many faiths unite in song

People of different faiths are rehearsing for the annual Interfaith Musical Tribute in the Salt Lake Tabernacle this Sunday. Members of a children's choir will open and close the evening with their idea of unity through song. "We are all children of faith, united, hearts are the same," the children, ages 4 to 16, sing as part of a new song, "Children of Faith."

ABC's 'Bachelorette' star talks with Mormon finalist about faith

Emily Maynard, star of "The Bachelorette," said she did have a talk about religion with one of the finalists who is a Mormon. "I talked about faith and that's a huge part of my life. There's no way I can fall in love and potentially get engaged without having that conversation," said Maynard, who has been open about her Christian faith, to the LA Times on Monday.
