Bay Area Interfaith Group Honoring Christ Through Song and Service

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are joining fellow Christians in the Bay Area for a fourth-straight year to honor Jesus Christ through song and service.

Mark R. Christensen

Brother Mark Christensen was born and raised in Salt Lake City. He served the Lord in the Massachusetts Boston Mission. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Communications from the University of Utah and later a Master of Arts in Educational Counseling degree from the University of Phoenix. He is married to the former Cheri Watson and they are the parents of four children, and now have seven grandchildren. He has been a Seminary teacher, principal, curriculum writer, or Institute instructor for 35 years in various locations in the Salt Lake Valley. He currently teaches institute at Ensign College. Some of his hobbies include reading, hiking, fishing, studying Church History, visiting historical sites, and playing “hide and seek” with his grandchildren.

While Latter-day Saint women continued to serve in many capacities, the official Relief Society structure did not exist in the Church between 1844 and 1867. It was then that Eliza R. Snow helped reorganize this vital Church organization under the direction of President Brigham Young. As we study Doctrine and Covenants 124, we’ll talk about what led up to the disbandment of the Relief Society and how it grew into the worldwide organization it is today.

One magical date with dinner and a 'Beatles' concert, and life has never been the same since! Emily, Matthew, their two boys and rambunctious shih tzu recently settled in Utah and patiently await the day when they can be reunited with their daughter in Heaven.
