I have had the rare and achingly beautiful honor of getting to know Robbie and Alissa Parker, the parents of Emilie Parker, a victim of the Sandy Hook shooting that took the life of 20 elementary students and 6 school employees.
I’ll admit it: sometimes I get tired of the scriptures referring so extensively to men, and I wish I didn’t have to work so hard to apply them to me as a woman. Just to keep sane, I have painstakingly collected scriptures in which Jesus compares Himself to a woman, refers to Zion as “she,” or calls the temple “the house of the daughters of Zion” (Doctrine and Covenants 124:11, 26–27). So I really appreciate scriptures like those above that refer to all of Israel, men and women alike, as the bride of Christ. I’m sort of sadistically grateful that when men read such verses they get to do the same mental gymnastics I have to do in order to remember how we all fit into the picture of God’s relationship to man. Mankind. Humanity. Huwomanity. People. All of us. You know what I mean.
Our Heavenly Father and his son, Jesus Christ, are both childlike, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, and willing to submit to all things (Mosiah 3:19). However, the natural man is the opposite of these qualities.

On Tuesday night, Adam Levine told LDS 15-year-old Hanna Eyre, "you are the sweetest human being that has ever lived" after her performance of "Skyscraper" by Demi Lovato.
I learned to love Memorial Day from my grandparents. And not for the reasons you might think. It’s not the weekend vacations, long boat rides or barbecues (well maybe the barbecues.) It’s one other big standout—the cemeteries. It’s not only the cemeteries—it’s the cemeteries with my husband, parents and my kids all in tow and the stories that have been born there.
With a public open house set to begin June 3 and the temple dedication scheduled for August 13, the Tucson Arizona Temple is finally complete and will soon be the sixth temple in Arizona (following the Mesa, Snowflake, Gila Valley, Gilbert, and Phoenix temples).

Brothers Micah and Jasher Hydrick both opened their mission calls on the same day together—and both discovered some pretty exciting news. Just as they learned about their missions on the same day, the two newly called missionaries will also report to their respective MTCs on the same day.
Goats, chickens, eyeglasses, pacifiers—not exactly the variety most would expect when looking at vending machines. But that's the point for this particular Light the World feature, which also happens to be the first of its kind.
