Every six months as conference speakers approach the podium, I find myself wondering about the differences between a General Authority Seventy and an Area Seventy, why some leaders are receiving emeritus status, and how often new general officers are called.

Published in 1899, the first Church handbook was small enough to fit in a shirt pocket. The world has changed greatly since then, and so has the handbook.

After giving an unexpected piano performance at the Salt Lake City Assembly Hall, Presiding Bishop Gérald Caussé shared advice for members of the Church who don't feel like they have any questions about the gospel.

Following the Church's statement on homelessness, Presiding Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gérald Caussé, and eight other religious leaders on the Salt Lake Interfaith Roundtable released a statement on homelessness.

The Church recently released a new chart showing the First Presidency, the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and all of the General Authorities of the Church. This updated chart includes our three newest apostles — Elders Ronald A. Rasband, Gary E. Stevenson, and Dale G. Renlund—as well as changes made to the Presidency of the Seventy and Presiding Bishopric.

On Friday, October 9, the Church announced that Gérald Caussé was called as the new presiding bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bishop Caussé is the first presiding bishop of the Church from France, and the third born outside of the United States. Charles Wilson Nibley, the fifth presiding bishop, was born in Hunterfield, Midlothian, Scotland, and Victor Lee Brown, the 10th presiding bishop, was born in Cardston, Alberta, Canada. Bishop Caussé will be the 15th presiding bishop in the Church, continuing the pattern of every fifth presiding bishop coming from outside the United States.
