Elder Clark G. Gilbert of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles specifically directed his first social media message as an apostle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the faith’s young adults.
“To our young adult friends across the church, we love you,” the new apostle said in his message, which was posted on his new social media accounts just moments after his call to the apostleship was announced to a global audience.
Sitting beside his wife, Sister Christine Gilbert, Elder Gilbert acknowledged the fears, concerns, and anxieties many young adults face. He promised them and other listeners worldwide that if they will “anchor” their lives in the Savior, they will find joy, comfort, and peace in their lives.
“This is an incredible time,” Elder Gilbert said. “There’s a hastening happening all across the church, [and] we know you feel it.”
Elder Gilbert noted young adults are attending church universities, serving in Latter-day Saint missions and gathering in institutes worldwide in “unprecedented numbers.”
