Watch: Jennifer Garner surprised by her teenage crush Donny Osmond for her 50th birthday

Like many girls in the 1980s, teenage Jennifer Garner was a huge Donny Osmond fan. And in anticipation of her 50th birthday, the 13 Going on 30 actress got the surprise of a lifetime—one her teenage self likely could not have fathomed.

In a video she shared on Instagram, Garner was recently at a restaurant watching a personalized birthday card message of Osmond singing and dancing. Then as the song on her phone ends, the real Donny starts singing the same song—but this time live from inside the restaurant behind Garner. The fun surprise turns into an exciting birthday greeting, complete with hugs, cake, and a duet to the Donny and Marie song “Make the World Go Away.” You can watch the full video in the player below.

Sprinkles Cupcakes founder and Cupcake Wars judge Candace Nelson commented, “Epic!!!!!!!!! Happy birthday!!!” Actress Holly Robinson Peete wrote, “NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉” And the Humans of New York Instagram account might have put it most appropriately, commenting, “the best” on her video.

This is not the first time Garner has posted about her teenage love for Donny Osmond. Back in August 2021, she shared a photo of herself from 1985 with the caption, “Donny Osmond? It’s 1985. I’m all dressed up for you. Dad cut my bangs. Hello?”
