‘Relief and joy’: Songwriter shares her unexpected reaction to the new Young Women names

Over a month ago, Latter-day Saint Kaden Laga went missing in the Bitterroot Mountains of Idaho and Montana. Five days later, he safely returned home to his family, including his wife and soon-to-be son. Though Kaden is grateful for his return, he shared that being found alive wasn’t the biggest miracle from this experience.

Bill Marriott puts faith at the forefront of his life, and that's no secret. In the rooms in his hotels guests can find a copy of the Book of Mormon and Bible. At a party celebrating the opening of his $24-million Los Angeles hotel Bill recalled a memorable moment with John Wayne: “He was a very large man and a man of few words, but he let me know exactly what he wanted—a drink—when he said, ‘I understand liquor flows like glue at Mormon parties.’” There was little doubt in any one's mind that to Bill Marriott, faith and family came first.

The following is an excerpt from Elder John H. Groberg’s book Fire of Faith, which details his experiences as he served as a mission president and later as a general authority.

One evening Lydia [Knight] requested me (Newel Knight) to go to the Prophet and get a handkerchief from him, or ask him to send her a healing blessing. And, said [Lydia], “I believe I shall be healed.” She would have been glad to have sent for him to come and lay hands upon her, but did not feel worthy to trouble him . . . as the multitude of business and care he had over the Church she knew was more than he was able to endure with the sufferings of the saints.
