An Easter tradition to enjoy with loved ones who live far away

For President Russell M. Nelson's birthday celebration, the apostles and President Nelson's family created loving tributes to this father, husband, prophet, and witness of the Savior.

“If I have learned anything certain in my 95 years of life, it’s that Jesus the Christ is the Son of God. His Church has been restored in these latter days to prepare the world for the Second Coming,” President Russell M. Nelson said during his birthday celebration at the Conference Center on September 6. “He is the light and life of the world. Only through Him can we reach our divine destiny and eventual exaltation.”

Just in time for the Church's 2020 Sunday school curriculum focused on the Book of Mormon, the Neal A. Maxwell Institute for Religious Scholarship is delighted to announce The Book of Mormon: Brief Theological Introductions. Twelve volumes—one for each book in the Book of Mormon (with a few books combined and one divided into two volumes)—written by twelve different Latter-day Saint scholars, each of whom brings their personal and institutional faith commitments to bear on the scripture from a wide range of academic disciplines.

Shortly after a fire decimated the town of Paradise, California, Latter-day Saints arrived in the Deseret Book store in Sacramento, California. Though many had lost their homes and jobs, these Saints made the long drive to replace those supplies that were invaluable to them.

The scriptures are stocked with examples of how disciples, apostles, and missionaries overcome the hardship that is accompanied with sharing the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. From Peter and John to Alma and Amulek all the way to our present day, nobody has been or will be immune to the trouble that comes along with the joy and fulfillment of preaching the good word. There is an opposition in all things, but the opposition that disciples face doesn’t have to overshadow the miracles that are wrought within the work.
