For over 300 episodes, All In podcast host Morgan Pearson has asked all of her guests a poignant question: “What does it mean to be ‘all in’ the gospel of Jesus Christ?”
And now Morgan has answered that question for herself.
She began her answer by referring to a talk Neal A. Maxwell gave in 1992 called “Settle This in Your Hearts.”
“Elder Maxwell … pled with those who stood indecisively on the porch of the Church to come fully inside. And I love that imagery of coming inside,” Morgan said while a guest on the Magnify podcast.
She’s observed that it can be “very popular” to be wishy-washy on where one stands as far as the gospel. But Morgan has found it’s a lot easier and more joyful to fully embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ, and that you can have questions while still choosing to believe.
She invites listeners to imagine how it would feel to knock on someone’s front door on a cold, rainy night but not be invited to come inside. Then compare that to how it would feel if someone immediately ushered you in from the cold.
“That’s … what it’s like to step inside the gospel of Jesus Christ and the safety that can be felt in that,” she says. “I think that’s a key to deepening your discipleship: choosing to dive deeper.”
She continues, “So, for me, right now, what does it mean to be ‘all in’ the gospel of Jesus Christ? I think it means to come inside and to stop feeling like I am indecisively on the porch and instead fully enjoy the blessings of the haven that can be the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
And our choice to step inside also allows us to get to know the Savior on a deeper level and for Him to get to know us.
“And then that relationship is so much more unique and individualized,” Morgan says.
