In a letter to Church leaders this week, the First Presidency announced that Church services on Sunday, December 26, 2021, should be limited to sacrament meeting only in each ward or branch. Administrative and council meetings normally held on that day may also be canceled.

This decision was made to allow members and leaders alike to spend more time with their families during the Christmas holiday.

The letter can be viewed here (make sure you log in to your ChurchofJesusChrist.org account to view).

The First Presidency also requested that a modified Sunday meeting schedule be held on the Sunday closest to Christmas Day in 2017 and 2018. For Sunday, December 22, 2019, wards and branches were encouraged to hold a special Christ-centered and visitor-friendly sacrament meeting. Members were also encouraged to invite friends and acquaintances not of our faith to join in our worship as part of the 2019 “Light the World” campaign. In December 2020, all Sunday meetings were held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic and limited to sacrament meetings only.
