But the reality is that I was mostly avoiding the caffeine. I thought drinking it was wrong.

But I was beginning to tire of dystopian plot lines and racy romance novels that tried to insert sensuality into the nineteenth century, a time well known for its propriety. So when I found Edenbrooke, by Julianne Donaldson, I felt as if I had hit the clean romance jack pot. And I know you'll be sold too, once you read her writing. And did I mention she's already written a second clean romance novel? I promise that you'll be amazed by these two very different but equally sublime proper romances.

When my sister was engaged for only three months, all my grandma could say was, “Well, I can’t complain.” That’s because my Grandma Mary was engaged for all of eight days. That’s right—eight days. After a long friendship with my grandfather, they fell in love just as he was supposed to leave for a job in Washington. They had planned to get married when he returned the next year, but then they talked to the bishop. “You need to take her with you,” he advised. A little shell-shocked, they threw together a wedding in seven days and got married on the eighth.
