Leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints joined with community and interfaith leaders in southeastern Idaho Saturday morning, March 16, 2019, for the official groundbreaking ceremony of the Pocatello Idaho Temple.

Being at church has at times been a major struggle for me. My first major panic attack happened during a Sunday School lesson while I was in college, and the months following that experience I struggled with inexplicable intense anxiety in both church and other social settings. After some time and with the help of therapy, medication, and prayer, church became again a place of peace rather than panic for me. Unfortunately, that anxiety returned full force last summer.

There are so many Church doctrines and gospel principles that giving you only 14 explanations didn't cover nearly enough. So here are 13 more explanations to help you clarify certain concepts for your nonmember friends and neighbors.

One might appropriately wonder how the Atonement can be effective in the lives of mortals. Even though we seek to be worthy and to repent of our sins, in the end we are all, in one way or another, unprofitable servants (see Mosiah 2:21). Given our weakness and our recurring failings, how are we able to receive the many blessings of the Atonement in our lives? How are we able to receive of its cleansing powers, or peace, or succor, or freedom? How does the perfection and exaltation of an imperfect being come about?

Many prophets and apostles have had remarkable visions of what happens beyond the veil—particularly, what is to come in that next world and the angels who are guiding our lives today.

In her life story, Jane Manning James said she tried to set a good example “in my feeble way.” There was nothing feeble about her, though. She was a paradigm of faith and faithfulness in the face of sometimes unthinkable opposition.

I don’t know about you, but I had a “plan A” for my life. (Surely I am not the only girl who attempted to plan out her life.) I remember sitting around with some of my girlfriends one day when we were all in college. We were discussing my “plan A,” and that led to “plan B” ... which led me to think about “plan C.” I sort of wrote out my life plans and realized that I was already on “plan K.” (And this was a problem because I hadn’t even served a mission yet. By the time I went on my mission, I was beyond “plan K.”)
