Spokesman Sam Penrod released the following statement on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, about the death of a mission president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Philippines:
Due to the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hill Cumorah Pageant, originally scheduled to have its final season in 2021, has been canceled and will not be held in future years. The Nauvoo Pageant will also not be held in 2021 but will continue in 2022.
Sister Jean B. Bingham, the Church’s Relief Society general president, was the keynote speaker at the fifth annual International Women-in-Diplomacy Day symposium. The event originated from Los Angeles and was held virtually this year because of the pandemic. The event was sponsored by the honorary consul of the Republic of Senegal.

Hungry refugees in Syria are receiving food in an unusual way, thanks to a collaborative effort between the Greek Catholic Church and Latter-day Saint Charities. Armed conflict in the region has displaced millions of people and food shortages have caused great suffering. Now, however, a mobile bakery that can be moved about to supply freshly baked bread is feeding tens of thousands of people every day.
Latter-day Saint Charities, the humanitarian arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, announced today a US$20 million grant to support UNICEF’s global work with the Access to COVID-19 Tools (ACT) Accelerator and the vaccines arm of the ACT Accelerator called the COVAX Facility.
