At the recent Worldwide Discussion for Youth, Church leaders taught about the 2026 youth theme, “Walk with Me” taken from Moses 6:34. President D. Todd Christofferson, Second Counselor in the First Presidency, promised youth that they would see blessings as they strive to walk with the Savior. He said:
“I encourage each of you personally to learn more about the life of Jesus Christ and His example of walking with God the Father. Jesus was the ideal disciple of our Heavenly Father, just as we strive to be disciples of Him and the Father. I promise you that as you learn all you can about the Savior's example, you’ll get to know Him. You’ll know that He knows you, and that He’s not just the Redeemer but your Redeemer and Friend.”
Building on that message, President Christofferson and other Church leaders emphasized that walking with Jesus Christ is an active, daily choice, inviting youth to walk with Jesus Christ in three specific ways.
1. Walk with Him Through Prayer and Fasting
Young Women General President Emily Belle Freeman spoke about the Old Testament story of Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20. To prepare for a large army coming to attack his people, he decided to “set himself to seek the Lord,” praying and proclaiming a fast throughout the land.
President Freeman encouraged youth to always intentionally seek the Lord through prayer, whether by “pausing in the middle of the school day” or “thanking Him for a beautiful sunset.”
2. Walk with Him Through Repentance
Young Men General President Timothy L. Farnes shared the story of the man being healed at the pool of Bethesda in John 5, pointing out that like the man being physically healed, “we can be spiritually healed through repentance, by turning to Christ and recognizing the Savior of the world that He is.”
He invited youth to focus on daily repentance because it is “a precursor to greater things in life, like ordinances.”
3. Walk with Him Through Ordinances and Covenants
“We ought not to just say ‘covenants,’” President Christofferson said. “We ought to think about: what are the promises of those covenants, and what am I doing in my life to fulfill my promise, and what can I expect from the Lord?”
He said that when we participate in ordinances and covenants, it’s “a way we get a deeper relationship with God and with the Savior,” emphasizing that “the relationship really is the thing we are hoping for.”
For those who feel inadequate in their journey to walk with the Savior, President Christofferson offered words of comfort.
“Jesus invites us, no matter where we are at this moment, to walk with Him,” he said. “We don’t have to achieve some minimum level of ability or spirituality before He will take an interest in us. His invitation and His hand are extended right now, and all are included.”
