Another year of Come, Follow Me has begun—and you may be on the brink of discovering your new favorite book of scripture. We have a video that will help you see just how much the Old Testament matters to your daily life as a Latter-day Saint.

In the video, Shannon Foster, author of the popular Red Headed Hostess scripture study guidebooks, gives a bird’s-eye view of the families, places, and nations that we’ll read about in the Old Testament. Shannon emphasizes that more than a history, this ancient text contains profoundly personal relevance to our lives today.

“The Old Testament will remind you and your family who we truly are and what we are here in these last days to do,” she explains. And as we understand who we are, our families will be changed for the better.

Watch the video to get a digestible, high-level view of the timeline of the Old Testament. Shannon will also help you understand what to look for as your family studies.

“Listen to the prophets speaking to you. Listen to them talk about our day; their eyes were upon us. They looked to us to fulfill the prophecies,” Shannon says. “The more we know these prophecies, the more we can step forward with courage and strength and do hard things and help gather Israel.”

You can find Shannon’s Old Testament guidebooks exclusively at Deseret Book and deseretbook.com. Read more about the structure and benefits of the adult, teen, and kid guidebooks below.
