Ronell Hugh has done marketing for some of the most well-known companies in the US, including Adobe, Walmart, HP, and Microsoft. His professional position and personal identity—first as a child of God and second as a Black Latter-day Saint—have given him a unique perspective on President Russell M. Nelson’s October 2020 call for Church members to “lead out in abandoning attitudes and actions of prejudice.” On this week's episode, we talk with Ronell about how we can each respond to the prophet's call and why he believes we shouldn't give up in our efforts to promote respect for all of God’s children.

Here are 11 famous movies you might not realize have LDS connections.

31: "The Power of Godliness" (Doctrine and Covenants 84)

What to do you think of when you hear the phrase, “season of joy”? You probably think about Christmas, don’t you? Or maybe your birthday month because, let’s be honest, everyone loves their birthday month. But as joyful as Christmas and birthdays may be, that’s not what Joseph Smith was talking about when he called the events leading up to Doctrine and Covenants 84 a “season of joy.” And after this week’s lesson, we will see how this section brings lasting, eternal joy to all of our lives.

Defending the Faith: Try to imagine why others believe what they believe

Years ago, while doing graduate studies in Egypt, I was introduced by an Egyptian friend to a chemistry professor at the University of Cairo. After a pleasant conversation, the professor wondered aloud what an American was doing in Egypt, studying Arabic and Islam. "Are you a Muslim?" he inquired. When I answered that no, I wasn't, he asked, "Why not?" Such a question is, of course, a bit sensitive and difficult for anyone to answer who hopes to avoid offense or argument. So I answered, simply, "I'm a Christian."
