I think we as humans crave certainty and control. When we encounter complex issues and situations—more general ones like polygamy or priesthood restrictions, or intensely personal ones like having same-sex attraction or dealing with a devastating divorce or death—we want to make sense of them. We want to know why it’s happening and how everything is going to work out. In the absence of a clear explanation, we or others may invent one.
On Septber 22, the Church provided the following update about humanitarian efforts impacting those affected by hurricanes Irma and Maria:
For the first time in nearly 40 years, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is making a change in its Sunday meeting schedule.
Aletter released by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on October 6 announces, "The First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles have approved new policies regarding responsibilities of those serving in elders quorum and Relief Society presidencies." The letter also states these changes should be implemented no later than January of 2019. The new responsibilities include:
