A 9-foot-tall, 300-pound angel Moroni statue soared above the Tucson Arizona Temple on Thursday while bystanders broke into a harmonized version of "The Spirit of God."
I was recently drawn to a TED talk by Harvard researcher Amy Cuddy about how body language shapes who we are.
In a week when Mitt Romney has started to show and tell more about his Mormon faith, NBC's "Rock Center with Brian Williams" is devoting a full hour to the subject of what it means to be "Mormon in America." Last year my husband and I had the unexpected opportunity to film a reality show called Playhouse Masters about our family and custom playhouse business. Season two airs on TLC this year and has already been viewed in countries all over the world. My start on this journey . . . wait journey’s the wrong word. Let's call it mountain climb. One evening as my family went to a local mall, my children noticed a movie theater inside. I told them it was a theater mostly for grown-ups because alcohol was served there. Then my daughter asked, “Mom, how old do you have to be to drink alcohol?” When I responded that the legal drinking age was 21, I told her I how I had passed up that age long ago, and though I am legally able to drink, I have never had a sip of alcohol and never will.

Over the past couple of years I have had the super unique opportunity to travel for my job—a jobby, I like to call it (cross between job and hobby. Are we all on the same page? Good). After countless airplane rides, layovers, slices of airport pizza, movies on the plane, and airport security lines, I have made it to 10 countries and 22 cities. This may not sound like very much to some of you—and that is because you are well traveled—but for this cautious Utah girl, it has been life changing.
What words come to mind when you think about the Lamanites? If you are anything like me, you probably thought of words like wicked, unrighteous, stiff-necked (whatever that means), or maybe even bloodthirsty. But we forget that even though there are Lamanites in the Book of Mormon that fit this description, there are also many Nephites that fit that description, too. If we look a bit closer, the stereotypes we have given the Lamanites and Nephites may not only be untrue but also unhelpful in our efforts to love our neighbor and “liken the scriptures to ourselves.”
