On Monday afternoon, just hours before the Alabama Crimson Tide blew out the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the BCS National Championship football game, Peggy Fletcher Stack posted a short note at the Salt Lake Tribune‘s Following Faith blog on the Catholic pregame rituals of ND. Specifically, Stack drew readers’ attention to the Mormon story embedded within a fuller exploration of that subject at the Wall Street Journal: Star linebacker, Heisman Trophy runner-up, and devout Mormon Manti Te’o joins his teammates in “attend[ing] a Catholic Mass, receiv[ing] ‘a priest-blessed medal devoted to a Catholic saint,’ and ‘kiss[ing] a shrine containing two slivers Notre Dame believes came from Jesus’ cross.’” He was even photographed receiving a blessing from Notre Dame president emeritus Father Theodore Hesburgh (a blessing Te’o reportedly sought out).

Famed reality show producer Mark Burnett has brought Americans popular programs like “Survivor,” “The Apprentice,” “Shark Tank” and “The Voice.” But his next project, “The Bible,” a mini-series set to air on the History Channel in 2013, may come as a surprise to some. The program, which takes the holy book from Genesis to Revelation and re-enacts it, will air in two-hour intervals over a five-week period. After airing 90 minutes of the 10-hour series, the duo shared their passion for “The Bible” project, while also highlighting the intense process they went through to see the series come to fruition (Downey plays Jesus’ mother, Mary).

Years ago I was asked to do a radio show for KSL/Bonneville Communications. At first my head said no—I was a stay-at-home mother and couldn’t do a daily 3–6 p.m. job. But my soul said, “Wait.” After agreeing to meet later to discuss it—and a great deal of prayer and confusion in between—I met with their representatives. Within five minutes of talking with those wonderful people I felt the answer. Being my bold self, I told them I couldn’t do what they were asking, but I could do 12–3 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as that’s when my baby napped. I still remember them looking at each other as one said, “Job share.” And that’s what happened. Three hosts instead of one, all doing it part time so we could focus first on our families.
