Since the birthday of the Relief Society is March 17, let’s take a moment to remember its presidents. Some are very well known, while others may be less so. All contributed mightily to the history and purpose of the Relief Society of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Now some Mormons are launching their own group to "respond to false information put forward in the media." The Foundation for Apologetic Information and Research is announcing at 9 a.m. this morning the formation of the Mormon Defense League and the new website MDL.org. FAIR is a volunteer organization that attempts to answer criticism and questions about LDS Church doctrine and history. The announcement takes place at FAIR's 13th annual Mormon Apologetics Conference, which runs today and Friday at the South Towne Exposition Center in Sandy.
If there's one word I dislike more than the others, it might be 'resolutions'. Why? Although fairly new as a seminary teacher, Madsen had served a mission in the British Isles and viewed the assignment as a dream job.

In a week when Mitt Romney has started to show and tell more about his Mormon faith, NBC's "Rock Center with Brian Williams" is devoting a full hour to the subject of what it means to be "Mormon in America." The special, which "Rock Center" calls "ambitious and lively," airs Thursday, Aug. 23, at 9 p.m. MDT, making NBC the first network to devote a full hour of prime-time television to Mormonism.
