First and Second Nephi, the first two books of the Book of Mormon, record the history of one of Latter-day Saints' most well-known families: the Nephites and the Lamanites.
One of our sons and I were assigned as home teaching companions. Together we taught a number of families, including a divorced sister with three young daughters. Over time we developed a close and trusting relationship with the woman and her children. We appreciated the opportunities we had to serve them spiritually and temporally.
For members of the LDS Church in Hawaii, Mitt Romney won’t be the only politician who shares their faith on the ballot this year. This election year will have nominees from both parties that are active members of the church. Maria Agurto, a senior political science major from California, is the head of the Young Republicans Club here on campus. She noted the benefit of having members of the church run for office. “I think it brings the church experience. There are different aspects. People can be benefitted by members of the church running for office because they have a different outlook on other people’s lives.” She continued by saying, “They have core beliefs which drive their campaigns.”

I absolutely do not like the nickname “the Tattooed Mormon.” I would never call myself that and prefer that others would not refer to me as that either. (But I promise I won't get mad at you, either haha). I think talking about what is on my skin is completely irrelevant to where I am now in life and what I want the focus of my efforts to on—how real and incredible the gospel is and how to use it in our lives. (And also the small detail that I got them when I was not a member).
For their new Christmas campaign, "A Savior Is Born," the Church released a video that shows what the world would be like without a Savior--the pain, isolation, and darkness that would exist without the Light of the World.
While speaking at The Second Global Summit on Religion, Peace and Security in Geneva, Sister Sharon Eubank quoted Joseph Smith as she discussed how to help protect against religious scapegoating and harmful generalizations.
