Elder Nelson visits Central America

In January, as part of an assignment from the First Presidency, Elder Russell M. Nelson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles traveled to El Salvador to train priesthood leaders and instruct local members. On Saturday, January 14, Elder Nelson met with bishops, branch presidents, district presidents, and stake presidents from around the country in a meetinghouse on the grounds of the San Salvador El Salvador Temple. He was accompanied by Elder L. Whitney Clayton of the Presidency of the Seventy; Elder Enrique Falabella, President of the Central America Area; Elder Carlos Rivas, Area Seventy; Walter Ray Petersen, temple president; and David L. Glazier, El Salvador San Salvador Mission president.

Elder Christofferson teaches members in Salta, Argentina

On Saturday, November 12, 2011, Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and Elder Jay E. Jensen of the Presidency of the Seventy addressed youth, priesthood leaders, missionaries, and general members in Salta, Argentina. Also present were Elder Mervyn B. Arnold, President of the South America South Area, and his wife, Devonna, and Elder Ruben Spitale, Area Seventy. Elder Christofferson’s wife, Kathy, and Elder Jensen’s wife, Lona, also attended.

Showing their light: Taking up challenge of the 2012 Mutual theme

Youth across the globe are meeting the challenge of the 2012 Mutual theme — "Arise and shine forth that thy light may be a standard for the nations" (Doctrine and Covenants 115:5) — by offering service to those in need. Such service also helps members of the Aaronic Priesthood realize the goals in the Duty to God Program.Below are a few examples of young men and young women who are giving of themselves and "shining their light" to care for others.
