When we interact with our LGBTQ members in the Church, are we showing them the respect they deserve as fellow brothers and sisters in the gospel?
Conference Talk: For more information on this topic read "Safety for the Soul," by Jeffrey R. Holland, Ensign, Nov 2009, 88-90.
One of my favorite parts of church each week is when I get to pull out the hymn book and join the congregation in a rousing version of "The Spirit of God" or a reverent rendition of "Abide with Me." But I don't enjoy singing hymns at church only. Whenever I need a little more inspiration or to feel closer to God, I flip on the Tabernacle Choir or sing one of my favorites karaoke-style. Whether they make us feel pumped or peaceful, hymns inspire us with their music and lyrics. Here are 11 incredible lines from hymns that have inspired many over the years. In Tad R. Callister’s new book, A Case for the Book of Mormon, the former Sunday School general president and beloved Latter-day Saint author shares not only the evidence for the Book of Mormon but he also lays out arguments made by those who oppose the book. For readers, this may come as a surprise from a book that intends to build a case supporting the veracity of the Book of Mormon as it may even be the first time some readers have heard certain arguments against the book but during his conversation with All In host Morgan Jones, Callister explained why stating the case of opposition was necessary before making his own case in defense of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon.
While we wholeheartedly recommend studying the entire book, here are 10 quotes from 'The Infinite Atonement' that every Latter-day Saint could benefit from reading.
For the month of October, the LDS Living Book Club will be reading “Divine Patterns” by Roger Connors.
Whether I was building up wind energy or the restored gospel, I always relied on foundational principles. And they’ve never let me down.
In June 2024, the History of the Saints team, Dennis Lyman and Glenn Rawson are taking a bus tour across the pioneer trail. The first group will travel by bus from Salt Lake, across Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, and finally into Nauvoo. Along the way, they will follow as closely as possible the actual pioneer trail. There will be stops at the Green River, Martin’s Cove, Devils Gate, Casper and the last crossing of the Platte. We will visit, Chimney Rock, Scots Bluff, Fort Laramie, the Guernsey Ruts, and so much more. At Nauvoo, we will spend time in the City and take in the wonderful sites, especially those recently acquired. There will even be time for a temple session. On our last night in Nauvoo, we will walk the Trail of Hope—down Parley Street to the Mississippi River. As the sun goes down, we look out to the west and imagine that trail of 1300 miles before them. The next day we drive into northern Missouri and shift our focus to 1838-39 and the Exodus of Missouri following the Extermination Order of Governor Lilburn W. Boggs. We will visit the Hawn’s Mill martyrdom site, Far West, and Adam-ondi-Ahman. The last hours of the tour are spent at Liberty Jail and Independence. From there the group will fly home and Dennis and Glenn will welcome a new group flying in. The next morning, we reverse the trail all the way back to Salt Lake City.
